I got a call from an ad. agency one Friday, wanting a robot before 7am the following Tuesday, I said yes before I had any idea of what the brief was.They wanted an unpainted cardboard robot with arms made from washing machine tubes, and a hand coming out of his head holding a dart, he didn't need legs because he'd be popping up out of a box, like a Jack-in-the-box.
He was fun and pretty simple to make, and I built him easily over the weekend.
However, due to his size and the 7am deadline he cost the ad. agency a fortune to courier down to London on the Monday, and in the end they didn't get the job and he was never used.
He was going to be used in a new Cadbury Dairy Milk ad.
Hopefully he's gone to a good home.
